Beginning to Advanced Violin & Music
Are you ready to start playing a new instrument? Did you take a break from the violin and you want to come back to it? Are you a teenager looking for ways to improve and refine technique?
From bringing ways to integrate music into schools to teaching private students, my philosophy is that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn music.
Currently I am taking students ages 8 and up. I also teach adults! This includes adults who have never played violin and adults who have played in the past but are looking to get back into it. I attending Wee Violin training so that I can help little ones because many people have asked if I can teach their toddlers. I am also in the process of getting Suzuki training.
I use the methods including but not limited to Suzuki books, Essential Elements, String Builder, and Stanley Fletcher. I focus on note-reading, and also think that playing by ear has many strengths. To get the best sound, we look at posture and motion. I teach theory during my lessons so that the students can understand the patterns and be able to sight read. We also work on exercises to develop techniques. For songs, we explore the books, and I also try to develop an understanding of my students' goals and aspirations. We assess these goals regularly so we can make sure that we are on the right track for you!
Things to think about:
How do you see yourself as a performer?
Are you preparing for an audition?
What is your vision for yourself? Do you want to try a different style or improve in the style you are already playing?
Styles: I learned and have taught classical works, and am also well-versed in various folk genres including Old-Time,

Educational Tutoring in Spanish, K-6 Math, ESL (short term)
Using materials that I've acquired & created in my career as a teacher, I would love to help you in your language journey!
Having taught in the Utah Spanish Dual Immersion program for years, I have had administered the AAPPL test and other assessments to measure the growth and learning of students. My classes often excelled in their scores and the results were analyzed as a whole school in order to improve all classrooms. This was a snapshot of what students were able to do in my classroom.
Many times, students who were shy and scared to use their Spanish in class or at home participated enthusiastically in just a few weeks of having me as their instructor. More than once did parents come to S.E.P.s or sent me a random email expressing how much their student used Spanish at home out of the blue because they were in my class. I strive to make language learning a safe and fun endeavor.
Math practice for grades 3-6
(Short Term)
In my years as a public school educator, I have been required to monitor and teach concepts pertaining to math and English literacy.
My students received differentiated instruction, where I was able to meet the needs of the students in-person and online. The math scores they earned were consistently at level, and the different ways they received science literacy accelerated their learning.
I also taught English Language Arts in different settings, and gave supplemental materials to students who were behind. I monitored their progress and saw growth. Moreover, since I have an ESL endorsement, I monitored English Language Learners and sought out more materials for them. I had a number of students who successfully passed the WIDA test.
